Cost of heating

The actual cost of heating a home or commercial building depends on fuel price and the efficiency of the appliance generating the heat. The table below compares annual heating costs for the average American home using different fuels and appliances. The average American home consumes 100 million Btu’s of heat each year. However, this average is a bit deceiving since homes in southern regions use less while those in northern regions of the U.S. and in Canada use significantly more.

As you can see, heating with biomass costs less. And since biomass fuel is carbon-neutral, these appliances are more environmentally-friendly.
